The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced they have released import running back Avon Cobourne on Saturday. It is the second straight off-season Cobourne has been released by the team.

Cobourne was the team's leading rusher last season with 737 yards on the ground mainly sharing time with rookie Chevon Walker.

In his two seasons with the Ticats, Cobourne ran for 1,698 yards and 10 touchdowns.

"We'd like to thank Avon for his professionalism and hard work during his time as a member of our organization. We appreciate everything Avon gave to the team and wish him the best in the future," Vice President of Football Operations, General Manager and Head Coach Kent Austin said in a team release.

Cobourne was released by the Ticats last off-season when the team signed Martell Mallett, but signed back when Mallet was lost for the year due to a torn Achilles.

In seven CFL seasons, five with the Montreal Alouettes, Cobourne has rushed for 4,999 yards and 37 touchdowns.
