Munz: Jets continue road trip against Hurricanes

The Winnipeg Jets (6-8-1) continue a five-game road trip in Raleigh, North Carolina tonight against the Hurricanes (8-5-1).

Carolina leads the NHL's Southeast Division with 17 points, and sit four points ahead of third-place Winnipeg.

Captain Andrew Ladd is playing his 500th NHL game tonight.  TSN 1290's Shane Hnidy spoke with Ladd this morning at the pregame skate and that feature interview can be heard during the pregame show with Rick Ralph starting at 5pm ct.  Ladd's first NHL game was here in Raleigh with the Hurricanes November 20, 2005 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Coming off a 29-save performance Tuesday in Buffalo, which was his 200th career NHL game, Ondrej Pavelec will start his fifth consecutive game in goal for the Jets.

Evander Kane is on a four-game point streak (one goal and three assists).

The Jets will be without defenseman Zach Redmond, who suffered a cut leg during the pregame skate.  He is currently in hospital. 

The Hurricanes are coming off a game in which they were shut out for the first time this season, 3-0 in Montreal.

Carolina will be without Jeff Skinner, Tuomo Ruutu, Tim Gleason and Tim Brent due to injury.

Defenceman Ryan Murphy has been recalled on emergency basis from Kitcher (OHL) and will play his first NHL game tonight wearing jersey #7.  He was the Hurricanes 12th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.

The Hurricanes are averaging an NHL high 33.8 shots on goal per game.
