The Toronto Blue Jays have designated pitcher Aaron Laffey for assignment to the club's Triple-A affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons.

Laffey was claimed off waivers from the New York Mets on Tuesday and made just one appearance with the Jays. He pitched 2 1/3 innings for the Jays in the team's 6-4 loss to the New York Yankees on Friday.

He gave up two earned runs, surrendered two hits and walked five batters in Friday's outing.

Laffey has appeared in five games this season between the Mets and Blue Jays, giving up 18 hits and 10 earned runs in 12.2 innings pitched.

This has been Laffey's second tour of duty with the Jays. He went 4-6 in 22 games with Toronto in 2012, posting an earned-run average of 4.56 and a 1.36 WHIP. Laffey has appeared in 153 career Major League games with the Blue Jays, Mets, Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.

He has a 25-29 career record with a 4.45 ERA.
