In The Pipeline
Offensive line is a priority after losing youngsters Matt O'Donnell (trade) and Alex Krausnick-Groh (free agency) within the last year, while fullbacks Neal Hughes and Graeme Bell aren't getting any younger. The Riders have some ratio flexibility in terms of where they want to play Canadian starters but, in order to truly exercise that flexibility, the club needs to add depth behind Ricky Foley and Craig Butler at defensive end and safety respectively. Depth at receiver could also be a concern, particularly with Rob Bagg and Jordan Sisco coming off serious injuries.

Best Late Round Pick (2008-2012)
Midway through last season, the Roughriders gained some ratio flexibility by replacing import Chris Patrick at right tackle with Canadian Patrick Neufeld, whom the club had stolen in the fifth round (33rd overall) of the 2010 Draft.
Quirky Draft Fact
There's no questioning the selection of Ben Heenan first overall last year but consider three other recent early round Roughrider picks used on local products. In '08 and '09, Saskatchewan chose redshirt Montana DE Mike Stadnyk, a Regina native, and University of Regina CB Tamon George respectively. Both players are out of the league while, in both cases, the next comparable player chosen (redshirt Western Michigan DE Fernand Kashama in '08 and New Hampshire CB Ryan Hinds in '09) not only remains in the CFL but has also spent time as a starter. In 2010, the Riders drafted receiver Jordan Sisco (9 career catches for 116 yards, 0 TDs) eighth overall, immediately ahead of Cory Watson (121-1414, 3 TDs) and Shawn Gore (121-1556, 6 TDs). With a team that is as much a part of its community's culture as the Saskatchewan Roughriders are, it is a huge positive that, of the 28 players listed on the current non-import roster, exactly half of them (14) are products of university or junior football programs based in the province of Saskatchewan. However, history suggests that the challenge for the Riders is striking a balance between maintaining the local content quota and selecting the best available prospects on Draft Day.
