HAMILTON, Ont. -- Linebacker Markeith Knowlton, the CFL's outstanding player in 2010, was released Tuesday by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Also let go were defensive backs James Patrick and Terrance Parks.

The moves come following Hamilton's lopsided 37-0 road oss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday although Patrick didn't dress for that game.

"Markeith has been a respected member of this team during his time in Hamilton and his accomplishments are well documented," Ticats head coach and GM Kent Austin said in a statement. "We'd like to thank Markeith for his contributions and wish him success in the future."

The six-foot, 205-pound Knowlton was in his eighth CFL season and sixth with Hamilton. Patrick joined the Ticats this off-season as a free agent after spending five years with Saskatchewan.

Knowlton was named the CFL's outstanding player in 2010 after registering 71 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, and six fumble recoveries.

Parks, 23, was in his first season with Hamilton.

The Ticats (1-3) host Saskatchewan (4-0) at Alumni Stadium in Guelph, Ont., on Saturday.
