Hurricanes bring back RFA Boychuk on one-year deal Staff

The Carolina Hurricanes signed restricted free agent forward Zach Boychuk to a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday.

The team said the deal is worth $550,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level.

The 23-year-old was claimed off waivers three times last season and skated in 13 total games for Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Nashville. He also played 49 games for the AHL's Charlotte Checkers and 23 goals and 20 assists.

The native of Airdrie, Alberta was a first-round pick (14th overall) of the Hurricanes in the 2008 Draft.

He has eight goals and 12 assists in 85 career NHL contests.
