It appears the Washington Redskins have some good news heading into the NFL season.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, quarterback Robert Griffin III will start for the Redskins in their Monday night opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Griffin, who has not played in the preseason, was expected to meet with Dr. James Andrews this week for another evaluation on his surgically-repaired right knee.

Andrews cleared Griffin III for practice before training camp and examined him again before last week's preseason game at home.

Griffin III told ESPN 980 on Tuesday that he's "not below 100 per cent."

The Redskins wrap up the preseason on Thursday with a game against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.
