Vancouver Canuck forwards Dale Weise and Zack Kassian will be called to the carpet on Monday for events that occurred in Saturday's game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Weise will have his hearing with the NHL head office over the phone, while the league has requested an in-person hearing with Kassian.

Oilers centre Sam Gagner suffered a broken jaw after getting hit with a high stick from Kassian in Edmonton's 5-2 win. Gagner and Kassian collided along the boards, with Kassian's stick knocking out some of Gagner's teeth. X-ray's later confirmed Gagner had a broken jaw. Kassian received a double-minor on the play.

"I was going to try to hit him and he stopped quick," Kassian told The Province. "I went with the shoulder and lost control and swung my stick and hit him in the face. The guy has a broken jaw. You never want to see that happen. But if you look at the replay, it's hard to purposely tomahawk and swing your stick and hit somebody in the face."

Also on Saturday night, Weise delivered an illegal check to the head of Oilers centre Taylor Hall. Weise picked up a minor for the check.
