The world will know Georges St-Pierre's successor on Mar. 15.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced its card for the Dllas-hosted UFC 171, featuring a bout between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for now-vacant UFC welterweight championship.
St-Pierre reigned atop the welterweight division for five years before the Montrealer relinquished the belt, electing to take personal time away from competition on Dec. 13.
Currently on a three-fight win streak that includes a unanimous decision win over St-Pierre training partner Rory MacDonald, Lawler (22-9, 1 NC) is paired off against Dallas-native Hendricks (15-2) who was defeated in St-Pierre's last bout via a controversial decision.
Other bouts on the card include former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit (29-7) against Tyron Woodley and Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner Diego Sanchez (26-6) against Myles Jury (13-0).
The card will also feature Thiago Silva (16-3-0, 2 NC) against Ovince St. Preux (14-5) in a lightweight battle and Montreal's Alex Garcia (11-1) in a welterweight fight against Sean Spencer (11-2).
