Toronto Maple Leafs fans will have to wait until after Wednesday's NHL trade deadline before they see Dave Bolland's return.

The 27-year-old forward has informed the Leafs that he will be unable to play in Monday night's home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Monday's scratch will bring Bolland up to 48 games missed thus far in 2013-14 due to injury. Bolland suffered a severed ankle tendon against the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 2 after taking a hit from Zack Kassian.

The Leafs are 10-4 with Bolland in the line-up this season and were the NHL's best team when the Mimico, Ont.-native went down due to injury with 20 points through 14 games.

Toronto acquired Bolland at the 2013 NHL Draft from the Chicago Blackhawks for a trio of draft picks. In 15 games with the Leafs, Bolland has scored six goals and added four assists.
