The Saskatchewan Roughriders have turned to a former CFL All-Star to lead its backfield charges.

Head coach Corey Chamblin announced on Monday that Avon Cobourne had been hired as the defending Grey Cup champions' new running backs coach.

Cobourne spent seven seasons in the CFL, five with the Montreal Alouettes and the final two with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and is a two-time Grey Champion with wins in 2009 and 2010. He was the game's Most Outstanding Player in 2009.

The all-time leading rusher in West Virginia history, the 35-year-old Cobourne will be working with Chamblin, who signed a three-year extension last week, and offensive co-ordinator, George Cortez.
