WORCHESTER, Mass. - Matt Taormina scored 2:38 into overtime as the Worcester Sharks edged the St. John's IceCaps 3-2 on Saturday night in American Hockey League action.

John McCarthy tied the game for Worcester (36-23-6) with a power-play goal midway through the third. Evan Trupp opened the scoring with a goal in the first for the affiliate of the San Jose Sharks.

Chase Balisy and Blair Riley found the back of the net for the IceCaps (30-30-10), the farm team of the Winnipeg Jets.

Troy Grosenick made 18 saves in net for the win. Peter Budaj stopped 33 shots in the loss.

The Sharks scored once on seven power plays while St. John's went 1 for 2.
