Team X, formerly of SK Gaming, have rebranded just in time for Northern Arena next week in Toronto.

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team has formed a player-owned organization called Herioc.

The team is currently ninth place in the ESL Pro League Season 4 with a 3-7 record and will compete under their new moniker for a piece of the $100,000 prize pool at Northern Arena presented by Bell at Fan Expo from Sept. 1-4.

"We have all spent multiple years in the Counter-Strike game, across many teams and brands and we are extremely excited to finally be able to call ourselves co-owners of Heroic," the team said in a press release. "We believe that the time has never been more right to take this step and we have never been more motivated to make this a global esports success."

The squad began competing as Team X after being dropped by SK at the end of June. SK would go on to acquire the Luminosity Gaming roster before both SK and Team X were disqualified from ELEAGUE for roster violations.

With the new brand in place and a few bumps in the road now in the past, Heroic is looking forward to Toronto in a week as well as SL i-League Season 2 and DreamHack Bucharest, which they have already qualified for.
