Other top competitors include defending US OPEN champion Andy Murray, who is on a high after winning Wimbledon, along with six-time US OPEN champion Roger Federer.

Winning last year's US OPEN, world No.1-ranked Serena Williams seeks to add to her already impressive eight titles for the year, including a win at the French Open. Williams' biggest challenger, No. 2 ranked Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, is seeking her first US OPEN title and second major title after defending her Australian Open title in January.

Highest-ranked Canadian female Eugenie Bouchard looks to continue to make a name for herself as the rising star takes on the world's best players. Montreal's Aleksandra Wozniak returns to the US OPEN after being sidelined for the better part of a year with a shoulder injury.
