Montreal's Eugenie Bouchard - the only woman to reach the semifinals in this year's first two Grand Slam events - will be in tough at Wimbledon next week after being drawn into the same quarter as five-time champion Serena Williams and 2004 champion Maria Sharapova.
Bouchard starts the tournament against Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova. The 13th seed could face Williams in the round of 16, while Sharapova - who defeated Bouchard in the French Open semifinals - would be a possible quarter-final opponent.
Toronto's Sharon Fichman is also in the same quarter of the women's draw, with her opener against Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland.
Aleksandra Wozniak plays Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia in her first round match.
Thornhill, Ont.'s Milos Raonic, the eighth seed in the men's draw, begins play against Australia's Matthew Ebden. Raonic is in the same quarter as No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal of Spain and France's Richard Gasquet.
