The 2013 first-round pick is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract but because the Texans picked up the fifth-year option available on all first-round pick contracts, he has two seasons remaining on his deal.
He also has a $445,000 roster bonus due on the fifth day of camp (Wednesday) that he will miss if he hasn't returned by then.
Hopkins finished with 111 catches, 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
