TSN's Matthew Scianitti confirmed reports that safety Craig Butler is dealing with a knee injury that could potentially threaten his entire 2016 season.

Butler played in 14 games for the Ticats last year, his second with the team, racking up 43 tackles, four sacks, and an interception.

Butler himself took to Twitter to thank fans for their support and promise to return from the injury better than ever.

The 27-year-old is a veteran of five CFL seasons, spending the first three years of his career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

With Butler's injury the Ticats will likely have to make a ratio change. The team has a number of options, including starting Mike Daly at safety or moving Courtney Stephen from cornerback to safety.
