The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed defensive end Eric Norwood to a contract extension through the 2016 season.

He was tied for second in the CFL this season with a career-high 13 sacks to go along with 48 tackles and two forced fumbles. Norwood had two tackles in Hamilton’s 2014 Grey Cup loss.

"We're excited to have Eric in Black and Gold for years to come, as he has been an integral part of our defence over the last two seasons and has shown he is one of the league's premier pass rushers," said Ticats General Manager and Head Coach Kent Austin in a press release.

In 32 regular season games, Norwood has 93 tackles, 17 sacks and three forced fumbles with the Tiger-Cats.

The East Division All-Star was originally signed by Hamilton in July of 2013. He was selected in the fourth round by the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in 2010 and was released from the team in 2012. He has also spent time with the UFL's Virginia Destroyers and the AFL's San Jose SaberCats and Pittsburgh Power.
