The Arizona Coyotes lost their fifth straight game Thursday in a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of the NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Coyotes fell down 3-0 before Clayton Keller contributed the lone goal of the night for the Coyotes, who sit last in the NHL with 19 points through 34 games.

After the loss, Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet made it clear he was not happy with the effort from some of his players.

"I don't know what it is but some guys just kind of gave in," Tocchet said. "They are a hell of a hockey team. At the beginning, they were just kind of moseying into the game and we didn't sense that and say, `Hey, let's jump on it.' That is what is disappointing.

"That (power play) helped the demise for our game tonight… Very, very soft. I hate soft plays, I hate soft players. We were soft tonight.”

Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta turned aside 44 of 48 shots in the loss and echoed the sentiments of his coach that not every player came to play.

“You’ve got to expect it,” Raanta said. “They’ve got lots of firepower there. They brought everybody to the ice today and we didn’t, and that’s pretty much the game in short version.”

The Coyotes have been outscored 17-5 over their past five games, but Tocchet said the results come down to work ethic, which his team has been lacking.

“It’s not just about scoring goals,” Tocchet said, per AZ Central. “It’s about battle level, it’s about details. Our details tonight, and I put that on me, our details were awful tonight. Really bad. That’s what bothers me because I love details. Our details sucked, basically.”

Arizona will continue their five-game homestand on Saturday against the Two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

“It’s a great challenge, and I love being in net when there is such great players playing against me,” Raanta said of the matchup. “It’s just a great challenge … I thought we did a good job in PK (on Thursday), and that’s one of our big points this year and we have been doing a great job.

"At least something is working.”
