The Toronto Blue Jays will attempt to close their season on a high note tonight when they try to complete a home sweep of the Minnesota Twins.
The Blue Jays (72-89) will send Brandon Morrow to the mound against the Twins (66-95) and Canadian starter Scott Diamond.
Toronto is wrapping up a disappointing season but managed to pick up a couple of one-run victories over Minnesota this week. The Blue Jays won 6-5 in 10 innings on Monday before prevailing 4-3 last night.
Morrow (9-7, 3.09) will attempt to become Toronto's only 10-game winner this season. He is coming off a strong start last Thursday against the Yankees, where he earned the victory after throwing seven shutout innings.
Diamond (12-8, 3.54), who hails from Guelph, Ontario, is wrapping up a good season in which he leads the Twins pitching staff in victories and earned run average. He beat the Blue Jays on May 13 when the clubs met in Minnesota.
A Blue Jays loss would push the team to the 90-loss plateau for the first time since 2004, when they were 67-94.
Toronto has won four of the six meetings between the clubs this season.
