TORONTO -- Toronto Marlies goaltender Drew MacIntyre is hoping the fourth time is the charm.

The 29-year-old made 17 saves Saturday as Toronto beat the Hershey Bears 2-1 in American Hockey League action.

The Marlies are the fourth different organization MacIntyre has dressed with this season after he signed a professional tryout with Toronto on Wednesday.

"I've had some practice at going to new teams," he joked. "I've learned a lot of lessons through this, this is a humbling experience. It has humbled me."

MacIntyre started the season in Russia's KHL, but lost his job when he broke his ankle. The Charlottetown native then signed with the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League where he went 6-3-1 in 10 games.

The then dressed as a backup for one game with Hershey in January.

"When you haven't seen him all season, you're not sure what you're going to get," Marlies coach Dallas Eakins said. "I thought he would be a calming force out there, I knew he would have great communication with our defencemen and now he feels welcome in our dressing room."

Tim Connolly picked up the game winner and Andrew Crescenzi scored his first AHL goal for the Marlies (26-17-4), who snapped a two-game skid.

Crescenzi, who went undrafted, is in his second stint with the Marlies after having played two games in the AHL following the conclusion of the 2010-11 Ontario Hockey League season.

"I picked up the puck in the neutral zone, it was a 2-on-1, I was trying to get the pass through, but the defenceman took (the pass) away," he said of his goal. "I just tried to get it on net quick and it went in."

Casey Wellman replied for Hershey (23-20-7), which got 20 saves from Danny Sabourin.

After Toronto took a 2-1 lead on Connolly's goal, MacIntyre held the fort.

He turned aside Wellman on a partial breakaway in the second and then made multiple saves off of Boyd Kane in close just over a minute later.

After Crescenzi gave the Marlies the lead in the first period, Toronto got into penalty trouble in the second and the Bears capitalized with Connolly in the box for slashing. Wellman put a feed from Ryan Potulny past MacIntyre stickside for his eighth of the season.

"I'm not worried about our discipline, I'm just worried about the calls," said Eakins of the two early second period penalties.

Connolly redeemed himself midway through the period, taking a Nicholas Deschamps feed and beating Sabourin for his fourth of the season.

Deschamps had a chance to pick up an insurance goal with the Bears net empty late in the third, but his shot from just inside the Hershey blue-line missed the net.

Hershey has now lost three in a row.
