Familiar Face

The Pittsburgh Penguins are interested in reacquiring forward Jordan Staal, according to Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Yohe reports that the Penguins are looking for a top-six forward and are inquiring about what it would take to make the deal before the trade deadline on March 2, however, they are still reportedly interested in bringing Staal back to Pittsburgh in the offseason.

Staal has a full no-trade clause in the 10-year, $60M contract he signed with the Hurricanes in 2012 but would reportedly waive that to return to the Penguins.

However, TSN's Aaron Ward is reporting that Staal was told by the team today that the speculation is unfounded.

Depth of field

The Montreal Canadiens aren't looking to make a huge deal but are reportedly interested in a little bit of tinkering according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.

Garrioch wrote Sunday that GM Marc Bergevin could be interested in Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Roman Polak, but he is also looking for players on expiring contracts.
