The NHL's Feb. 29 Trade Deadline is approaching and teams are making decisions on whether to buy or sell and decide which players can make the biggest difference and hold the greatest value. Check out today's trade rumours and speculation from around the NHL beat.

Time To Make Moves?

Larry Brooks of the New York Post thinks the Rangers should consider making a trade for the playoff push, but not one that will give up too much of the team's future. Brooks says 29-year-old defenceman Keith Yandle, who will be an unrestricted free-agent on July 1, would be good trade bait for first-year general manager Jeff Gorton to replenish their farm team.

Brooks says the Rangers should avoid giving up young talent, namely J.T. Miller, Pavel Buchnevich and Dylan McIlrath, for a veteran rental player such as Winnipeg Jets forward Andrew Ladd.

"Surely the Jets would be willing to take some combination of J.T. Miller, Pavel Buchnevich, a first-rounder and Dylan McIlrath off Broadway in return for the high-end rental property," said Brooks in his column. "But even more surely, anyone going after what is left of the Blueshirts’ young core would have to be told by Gorton that they jest and should not waste their time."

The Blueshirts sit in second place in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference.

Rental Time?

NHL.com senior writer Dan Rosen thinks that if the Minnesota Wild are to make a deal before the Feb. 29 Trade Deadline, picking up a player to help their struggling offence is a good possibility. Rosen thinks general manager Chuck Fletcher would use one of their defencemen as trade bait to pick up a forward. Winger Kyle Okposo of the New York Islanders could be an option, according to Rosen. The 27-year-old has a dozen goals with 24 assists over 47 games in 2015-16, his ninth with the organization. Okposo would likely be a rental player as he's slated to become an UFA on July, which could scare Fletcher away from the deal.
