Panthers trade Seidenberg to Bruins

The Florida Panthers have parted ways with Dennis Seidenberg, trading the veteran defenceman to the Boston Bruins.

Boston also receives defenceman Matthew Bartkowski in exchange for right wingers Craig Weller and Byron Bitz, as well as a second round draft pick.

The 28-year-old Seidenberg, who played  for Germany in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, will be joining his fourth NHL team. He's played 357 games in the big leagues since being drafted in the sixth round (172nd overall) by Philadelphia in 2001. He has two goals and 20 assists in 61 games with Florida this season.

Bitz, 25, has four goals and five assists in 45 games this season, while prospect Weller, 28, has 95 NHL games under his belt. Bartkowski is currently playing at Ohio State University.

Weller, 29, has played in 55 games this year for Providence (AHL) scoring four goals and 10 assists for 14 points.

Bartkowski plays at the Ohio State University.
