Canucks acquire D Alberts from Hurricanes

The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenceman Andrew Alberts from the Carolnia Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick in 2010.

Alberts, 28, has played in 62 games this season for the Hurricanes, registering two goals and eight assists, 74 penalty minutes and a plus-7 ranking.

The Minneapolis, MN, native has played in 325 NHL games, collecting four goals, 38 assists and 366 penalty minutes. In eight NHL playoff games he has registered one point and 10 penalty minutes. In 325 career NHL games, Alberts has 42 goals and four assists.

The 6'5”, 218-pound defenceman was originally drafted in the sixth round, 179th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
