The St. Louis Blues have traded prospect forward Julian Talbot to Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward T.J. Hensick.

The 24-year-old Hensick played in seven games for the Avalanche last season, recording one goal and two assists. He also played in 58 games for Lake Erie of the American Hockey League last season, scoring 20 goals and adding 50 assists for 70 points.

In 2008-09, he played in 61 games for the Avalanche and recorded four goals and 17 assists.

25-year-old Talbot played in 76 games for Peoria this past season, recording 17 goals and 15 assists. He has spent the last three seasons in Peoria.

Earlier in the day, the Blues made a big splash by acquiring goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forwards Lars Eller and Ian Schultz.

The Avalanche also re-signed forwards Kevin Porter and Philippe Dupuis and defenceman Ray Macias to one-year contracts on Thursday.

Porter, 24, who came over from Phoenix on March 3 in the trade that also landed Peter Mueller and sent Wojtek Wolski to the Coyotes, had two goals and one assist in 16 games with Colorado.

The former Hobey Baker Award winner has seven goals and 13 points in 54 career games with Phoenix and Colorado.
