The Nashville Predators have acquired centre Paul Gaustad and a fourth-round draft pick from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a first round draft pick in 2012.

The 6'4 veteran forward has seven goals and 10 assists with 98 hits, 40 blocked shots and 70 penalty minutes in 56 games this season.

In eight NHL seasons, the North Dakota native has 72 goals, 181 points and 585 penalty minutes in 479 games.

Drafted by the Sabres in the seventh round (220th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Gaustad finished in the top ten among NHL faceoff leaders last season.
