Flames acquire Westgarth from Hurricanes for Nemisz

The Calgary Flames have made a pre-New Year's roster adjustment acquiring forward Kevin Westgarth from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for centre Greg Nemisz.

Westgarth has posted four penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in 12 games with the Hurricanes this season.

He is a veteran of five NHL seasons, appearing in 133 career games with the Hurricanes amd Los Angeles Kings, scoring three goals and six assists.

Westgarth's 2013-14 salary cap hit is worth $725,000.

Nemisz has appeared in 32 games this season with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League, scoring four goals and adding five assists.

He has appeared in 15 career games with the Flames, registering just one assist. The Flames selected Nemisz 25th overall at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
