TSN, in partnership with Hockey Canada, today announced the broadcast schedule for the 2017 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP in Toronto and Montreal – part of the 60+ championships that live on TSN.

TSN’s James Duthie and Bob McKenzie unveiled the schedule earlier today during the network’s live coverage of the IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP tournament opener featuring Team Canada vs. Team USA.

Broadcast Schedule Highlights

Among the key games at the 2017 World Juniors (visit TSN.ca for a complete broadcast schedule):
• Team Canada’s opening game on Boxing Day against Russia at 8 p.m. ET on TSN at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre
• The classic Canada-USA match-up on New Year’s Eve at 3:30 p.m. ET on TSN, which closes out both teams’ preliminary-round action.
• A New Year’s Eve clash at Bell Centre in Montréal featuring reigning champion Finland taking on Switzerland at 5:30 p.m. ET on TSN

Record Ratings

Since TSN began airing the World Juniors in 1990-91, the tournament has repeatedly broken audience records, highlighted by the 2015 Gold Medal Game in Toronto featuring Canada vs. Russia, which attracted an average audience of 7.1 million viewers to TSN and RDS, becoming the most-watched broadcast ever on specialty television in Canada.

The Canada-USA game on Boxing Day during the 2016 World Juniors remains the top-rated hockey game on any network to date in this 2015-16 broadcast year, attracting an average audience of 2.8 million viewers.

2017 World Juniors

Team Canada headlines Group B at this year’s tournament, joined by Russia, USA, Slovakia, and Latvia. Preliminary-round games for Group B will be played in Toronto.

Montréal hosts the preliminary-round games for Group A, which features defending champion Finland as well as the Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland.
