Upon joining the TSN team in 2006, James Cybulski juggled anchor, host and Toronto reporter duties for SportsCentre, the network’s flagship news and information show, and filed reports on major sports stories in the GTA, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors and Toronto Argonauts. Other duties while at Canada's Sports Leader have included guest hosting Off The Record, TSN's daily sports debate show, reporting on UFC events and leading the network's inaugural NCAA March Madness studio show.
Cybulski has conducted feature interviews with marquee sports personalities such as Sidney Crosby, Reggie Jackson, Dan Marino, Georges St-Pierre, David Stern and Gary Bettman, among others. Cybulski also crafted an inspiring report on Jay Triano's life-changing encounter with Terry Fox over 30 years ago. Outside of the sports realm, Cybulski has interviewed celebrities such as Will Farrell, Billy Crystal and Spike Lee, as well as funny man Stephen Colbert at the VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES.
With a broadcasting career pushing 16 years, Cybulski has covered top national and international sporting events including three Olympic Games, IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, several Grey Cups and Stanley Cup playoffs, as well as World Hockey Championships, NBA finals, World Series and World Figure Skating Championships.
This year, Cybulski was honoured with a Gemini Award for Best Sports Feature Segment for his feature on former Toronto Raptors head coach Jay Triano and his special friendship with Canadian hero Terry Fox, which aired on TSN's flagship sports news program, SPORTSCENTRE. Cybulski's exceptional coverage of the VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES also earned him a Gemini Award nomination for Best Sports Reporting last year.
On top of his countless guest appearances on sports talk radio shows across the country, Cybulski's past on-air radio stints include hosting Live From Wayne Gretzky's, a Toronto-based interactive hockey show, and the morning show for Team 1040 Vancouver, where he debated everything from sports to pop culture headlines. He has also reported for two Ottawa-based radio stations and The Score.
In 2010, Cybulski organized a benefit concert in support of Haiti earthquake victims that raised $80,000 for UNICEF.
