John Lu was first exposed to the Canadiens-Leafs rivalry on a small black and white TV in his family's suburban Winnipeg home in the early 1970s. Now he enjoys the distinction of being the first TV sports reporter to pull off the Canadian Original 6 'Sweep'.

Having covered the Maple Leafs in Toronto in the early 2000s, Lu currently calls the Canadiens his beat. He also covers the Alouettes and the full spectrum of auto racing in Quebec.

During his time with TSN Lu has reported on the NHL, MLB, NBA, CFL, NFL, and PGA Tour. He's also covered the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup playoffs, the World Series, the Daytona 500 and World Hockey Championship and World Cup of Hockey.

Born in Vancouver, Lu is an honours graduate from the journalism program at Red River College in his hometown of Winnipeg. Prior to moving to Toronto he was a general assignment reporter with CKY News in Winnipeg. His first memorable moment in the sports business came as a Production Assistant with the CBC at the 1999 Pan Am Games, where Stubby Clapp's historic bloop single allowed Canada's baseball team to upset the Americans.
