Dennis Beyak

Play-By-Play Announcer, Hockey on TSN

Manitoba-native Dennis Beyak joins TSN as the play-by-play announcer for Winnipeg Jets regional games on the newly-created digital channel, TSN Jets, and on TSN 1290 Radio in Winnipeg.

Born and raised in the small farming community of Winnipegosis, Beyak began his broadcasting career on CFAR 590 Radio doing play-by-play for the Flin Flon Bombers of the Western Canada Hockey League. Since then, Beyak has provided play-by-play commentary for the WHL's Saskatoon Blades, Victoria Cougars and Seattle Thunderbirds, and the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Beyak has also done television play-by-play for the NHL's Edmonton Oilers and was the primary radio voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs since 1998.

In addition to radio, Beyak has called the IIHF World Hockey Championships on TSN and worked as a hockey analyst on The Score. He has also done play-by-play for many other sports, including football, baseball, basketball, curling, horse racing, volleyball and snowmobile races.

Beyak's 41-year career in sports also includes stints outside of the broadcast booth, as he was the assistant general manager of the Saskatoon Blades from 1981-1990, the general manager of the Seattle Thunderbirds from 1992-1994, and the general manager of the Tri-City Americans from 1994-1995. He was also the chairman of the Memorial Cup tournament in Saskatoon (1989) and Seattle (1992), and was named WHL Executive of the Year in 1989.

Beyak is a graduate of Winnipeg's National Institute of Broadcasting.
