NEWCASTLE, England - Jamie Vardy equaled the Premier League record by scoring in 10 straight matches as Leicester beat Newcastle 3-0 to provisionally move to the top of the standings on Saturday.

Vardy equaled the mark held by former Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who also reached 10 at St James' Park.

Vardy struck on the stroke of halftime after cutting inside Moussa Sissoko before sending a shot beyond goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Leonardo Ulloa doubled the visitors' advantage in the 62nd shortly after Vardy had been denied a second by the crossbar.

Substitute Shinji Okazaki netted the third from close range in the 83rd as Claudio Ranieri's side rose to first on 28 points. Manchester City could reclaim the lead with a win against Liverpool later.
