WASHINGTON — Redskins coach Jay Gruden says safety DeAngelo Hall will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right knee.

Gruden says Monday that Hall needs surgery on his ACL, the third consecutive year the veteran defensive back's season has been cut short by an injury.

Hall, who turns 33 in November, was hurt in the first half of Washington's 29-27 victory at the New York Giants on Sunday.

He is in his 13th season in the NFL, the past nine with the Redskins.

Will Blackmon, a cornerback until this season, will start at safety in Hall's place, Gruden said.
