With UFC on Fox: Gustafsson vs. Johnson in the books it’s time to take a look into the future for the main card winners.
ANTHONY JOHNSON
UFC on Fox result: Defeated Alexander Gustafsson via TKO
What’s next?: The Pound-for-Pound King
Anthony Johnson looks like the most dangerous man in mixed martial arts right now and he has earned a shot against the man at the top of the food chain. We’ve learned over the last few championship fights that Jon Jones can take a punch, but Johnson should put that new discovery to the test more than any fighter has before.
GEGARD MOUSASI
UFC on Fox result: Defeated Dan Henderson via TKO
What’s next?: Another name
In his last five fights Mousasi has wins over Ilir Latifi, Mark Munoz and Dan Henderson to go along with two losses to Lyoto Machida and Jacare Souza. He should find himself in the Octagon with a higher-ranked middleweight in his next bout. With fighters ranked one through six booked solid, Mousasi could find himself in the cage with No. 7 Tim Kennedy.
RYAN BADER
UFC on Fox result: Defeated Phil Davis via split decision
What’s next?: Revenge
Bader has won four straight since his loss to Glover Teixeira in September 2013. Bader is a win away from matching his career high in the UFC and if he wants to be considered worthy of the title conversation, it seems as though Teixeira is the obstacle standing in the way of those ambitions.
SAM SICILIA
UFC on Fox result: Defeated Akira Corassani via TKO
What’s next?: Any link in the chain
Since his debut in the UFC in 2012, Sicilia has failed to string together consecutive victories. A stunning knockout of fan-favourite Corassani in his native Sweden does get Sicilia noticed and will likely mean a step up in competition, but unless he can put together a few wins in a row, victories like this will be all for naught.
