PORTLAND, Ore. - Matthew Barzal scored once in regulation and again in the shootout as the Seattle Thunderbirds edged the Portland Winterhawks 3-2 in Western Hockey League action on Saturday night.

Ryan Gropp also scored for Seattle (4-3-0).

Miles Koules and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored for Portland (1-7-2).

Taran Kozun made 32 saves for the Thunderbirds as Brendan Burke turned aside 32 shots in the loss.

Seattle went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Winterhawks failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

SASKATOON — Cory Millette scored the go-ahead goal at 16:01 of the third period to lead the Blades over Prince Albert.

Landon Welykholowa and Wyatt Sloboshan also chipped in for Saskatoon (1-6-0).
