CALGARY - The Kootenay Ice will live to play another day.

Levi Cable scored his second goal of the game 6:05 into overtime as the Ice edged the Calgary Hitmen 5-4 in Game 5 of their Western Hockey League playoff series on Friday.

Calgary leads the first-round set 3-2.

Luke Philp had a goal and four assists for Kootenay. Sam Reinhart and Rinat Valiev added the other goals.

Radel Fazleev struck twice for the Hitmen with Kenton Helgesen and Jordy Stallard rounding out the attack.

Wyatt Hoflin got the win in net after stopping 24 shots. Brenden Burke turned aside 31 shots for Calgary.

The Ice scored twice on eight power plays while the Hitmen were 2 for 3 with the man advantage.

Kootenay returns home for Game 6 on Saturday.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Montreal Canadiens prospect Nikita Scherbak had the winner as Everett got past the Chiefs to take a 3-1 lead in their first-round playoff series.

Logan Aasman and Brayden Low also scored for the Silvertips, who host Game 5 on Saturday.

Kailer Yamamoto answered with a third-period, power-play goal for Spokane.
