VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Giants honoured late co-owner Pat Quinn with a win on Friday.

The Giants beat the Portland Winterhawks 3-2 in Western Hockey League action, in Vancouver's first home game since Quinn's death on Nov. 23.

The team held a pre-game ceremony in honour of Quinn, a former player, coach and executive in the National Hockey League. Vancouver also unveiled a jersey patch and logo to commemorate him.

On the ice, it was Jackson Houck who scored twice and added an assist for the Giants (11-18-0). Carter Popoff rounded out the attack, in the debut of head coach Claude Noel.

Noel previously coached the Winnipeg Jets from 2011-14 and was hired by Vancouver on Nov. 30.

Miles Koules and Alex Schoenborn each had a goal for Portland (15-13-3), which had its six-game winning streak snapped in the loss.

Payton Lee got the win, making 32 saves, while Brendan Burke turned aside 34 shots for the Winterhawks.

The Giants went 2 for 5 on the power play while Portland was scoreless on six chances.

BRONCOS 5 HURRICANES 2

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Coda Gordon scored twice and added an assist as the Broncos defeated Lethbridge.

Colby Cave, Jay Merkley and Andreas Schumacher rounded out the Swift Current (15-12-4) attack. The win snaps a three-game losing skid for the Broncos.

Taylor Cooper and Zane Jones found the back of the net for the Hurricanes (6-18-4).

BRANDON, Man. — Adam Brooks had a pair of goals for Regina in its win over the Wheat Kings.

Braden Christoffer had the other goal for the Pats (18-10-1), who won their fifth straight.

Nolan Patrick and Reid Duke replied with their ninth goals of the season for Brandon (21-7-2).

CALGARY — Connor Rankin had a hat trick as the Hitmen dominated Edmonton.

Jordy Stallard, Adam Tambellini and Elliott Peterson also scored for Calgary (16-11-3).

Mitchell Walter and Garan Magnes chipped in for the Oil Kings (14-11-5) in the third period.

RED DEER, Alta. — Conner Bleackley scored the game-winning goal on the power play for the Rebels as they edged Moose Jaw.

It was Bleackley's second goal of the game, after tying the score for Red Deer (15-11-4) in the first period.

Jack Rodewald opened the scoring for the Warriors (12-13-3).

CRANBROOK, B.C. — Captain Sam Reinhart scored on the power play in the third period to lift Kootenay over Spokane.

Jaedon Descheneau opened the scoring 41 seconds into the game for the Ice (14-15-0), who won their third straight.

Jason Fram responded with a late second-period goal for the Chiefs (14-10-3).

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Jayden Hart scored a power-play goal at 19:34 of the third period as Prince Albert edged the Blazers.

Simon Stransky had a goal and two assists for the Raiders (15-14-0). Reid Gardiner, Dylan Stewart and Gage Quinney rounded out the attack.

Matt Revel struck twice for Kamloops (12-14-5), with Cole Ully and Logan McVeigh also chipping in.

Ryan Coghlan, Alex Forsberg and Brett Stovin supplied the offence for the Blades (7-21-2), who haven't won in six games.
