MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Brandon Hagel capped a hat trick with the winner in overtime and the Red Deer Rebels edged the Moose Jaw Warriors 8-7 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Michael Spacek had a goal and two assists for Red Deer (10-8-2) and Colton Bobyk tacked on three helpers. Carson Sass, Evan Polei, Jeff De Wit and Adam Musil rounded out the attack.

Luka Burzan struck twice for the Warriors (11-4-4) as Tanner Jeannot had a goal and two assists. Jayden Halbgewachs, Brayden Watts, Dakota Odgers and Nikita Popugaev supplied the rest of the offence.

Lasse Petersen picked up the win by making four saves in 23:53. Riley Lamb started but was pulled after turning aside 28-of-34 shots in 39:10.

Brody Willms made 37 saves in defeat.

The Rebels scored once on three power plays and the Warriors were 1 for 6.

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Stelio Mattheos scored the shootout winner as Brandon slipped past the Broncos.

Mattheos, Ty Lewis and Schael Higson gave the Wheat Kings (9-7-3) a 3-0 lead in regulation. Jordan Papirny made 33 saves.

Lane Pederson responded by striking twice and Calvin Spencer had the other on the power play for Swift Current (10-6-4), which erased a three-goal deficit in the third period. Travis Child turned aside 26 shots.

EDMONTON — Patrick Dea stopped all 27 shots he faced and Aaron Irving had a goal and two assists as the Oil Kings shut out Kootenay.

Lane Bauer and Tyler Robertson also scored for Edmonton (8-9-2).

Payton Lee turned away 39-of-42 shots for the Ice (3-11-5).

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Matt Bradley struck twice and Mason Shaw had three assists as the Tigers beat Saskatoon.

Zach Fischer, Max Gerlach, David Quenneville and Chad Butcher rounded out the attack for Medicine Hat (13-5-1). Nick Schneider made 25 saves.

Bryton Sayers, Mason McCarty and Braylon Shmyr scored for the Blades (8-11-1). Brock Hamm kicked out 39-of-44 shots.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Ty Edmonds made 35 saves and Jesse Gabrielle had two goals and an assist as Prince George shut out the Blazers.

Jared Bethune scored once and added two assists for the Cougars (15-4-2). Brad Morrison, Jansen Harkins, Colby McAuley and Yan Khomenko also scored.

Connor Ingram took the loss by turning away 24-of-28 shots in 40 minutes for Kamloops (11-10-1). Dylan Ferguson went the rest of the way and made 12 saves.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Cody Glass had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Winterhawks past Calgary and snap a nine-game losing streak.

Skyle McKenzie and Caleb Jones had a goal and three assists apiece while Joachim Blichfeld had a goal and two helpers for Portland (9-12-0). Ryan Hughes, Brendan De Jong and Evan Weinger rounded out the attack and Cole Kehler made 34 saves.

Mark Kastelic and Tyler Mrkonjic found the back of the net for the Hitmen (7-6-2). Cody Porter started and turned aside 16-of-21 shots in 25:12. Kyle Dumba stopped 18 shots in relief.
