CRANBROOK, B.C. - The Kootenay Ice have forced Game 7 in their first-round, Western Hockey League playoff series.

Wyatt Hoflin made 25 saves and four different Ice skaters found the back of the net as Kootenay beat the Calgary Hitmen 4-2 to even their series at three games apiece.

Tim Bozon and Jaedon Descheneau each had a goal and an assist for the Ice, who host Game 7 on Monday. Luke Philp also scored while Sam Reinhart had an empty-net, power-play goal.

Calgary's Adam Tambellini struck twice — including a short-handed goal. The Hitmen had won Games 2, 3 and 4 to take a 3-1 series lead before the Ice rallied back with wins in Games 5 and 6 on back-to-back nights.

Brendan Burke started in net for Calgary but left the game after experiencing discomfort following a series of saves. He allowed one goal on 14 shots through 32:31. Mack Shields stopped 12-of-14 shots in relief.

Kootenay was 2 for 3 on the power play. The Hitmen failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

WINTERHAWKS 5 THUNDERBIRDS 3

PORTLAND, Ore. — Paul Bittner struck twice as the Winterhawks topped Seattle to take a 3-2 lead in their first-round series.

Oliver Bjorkstrand had an empty-net goal and two assists for Portland. Keegan Iverson scored once and set up another and Alex Schoenborn rounded out the attack.

Mathew Barzal, Scott Eansor and Shea Theodore scored for Seattle, which hosts Game 6 on Tuesday.

TIGERS 4 REBELS 3

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Trevor Cox scored the tiebreaking goal 18:14 into the third period as the Tigers advanced to the second round with a 4-1 series win over Red Deer.

Steven Owre had two goals and an assist for Medicine Hat and Cole Sanford scored once and set up two more.

Riley Sheen led the Rebels with a goal and an assist. Colton Bobyk and Evan Polei also scored.

ROYALS 5 COUGARS 4 (OT)

VICTORIA — Greg Chase had a hat trick and Brandon Magee scored 1:42 into overtime as the Royals edge Prince George to win their first-round playoff series 4-1.

Brandon Fushimi added the other for Victoria with his first of the post-season in the first period.

Zach Pochiro had a hat trick of his own for the Cougars while Brad Morrison also chipped in.

CHIEFS 4 SILVERTIPS 3 (OT)

EVERETT, Wash. — Riley Whittingham scored his first goal of the playoffs at 15:25 of overtime as Spokane held off elimination against the Silvertips in its first-round playoff matchup.

Liam Stewart, Nick Charif and Markson Bechtold also found the back of the net for the Chiefs. Evan Fiala was ejected at 2:28 of the second period after a major penalty for kneeing.

Brayden Low, Kohl Bauml and Carson Stadnyk had goals for Everett, which still leads the series 3-2.

The series shifts to Spokane, Wash., for Game 6 on Tuesday.
