RED DEER, Alta. - Connor Rankin's hat trick and two assists helped the Calgary Hitmen to a 9-5 thrashing of the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday in Western Hockey League action.

Beck Malenstyn scored twice for Calgary (15-11-3), which had five-straight goals to start the game, while Jake Bean, Chase Lang, Adam Tambellini, and Terrell Draude rounded out the attack.

Riley Sheen found the back of the net twice and added an assist for the Rebels (14-11-4). Presten Kopeck, Brooks Maxwell and Brett Cote also had goals.

Mack Shields was the winning goalie after making 31 saves for the Hitmen. Rylan Toth started in net for Red Deer, turning aside 13-of-18 shots in 42:26. Taz Burman entered in relief, making 5-of-8 saves in 16:54.

Calgary scored once on four power-play chances while the Rebels went 2 for 8.

BLAZERS 4 BLADES 3

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Matt Revel had a pair of goals for the Blazers as they edged Saskatoon.

Luke Harrison and Michael Fora also scored for Kamloops (12-13-5). The win snaps its four-game losing skid.

Cameron Hebig, Landon Welykholowa and Alex Forsberg made it 3-0 for the Blades (7-19-2) before the Blazers scored four straight.

WINTERHAWKS 6 ROYALS 4

VICTORIA — Chase De Leo scored the first-of-three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game as Portland got by the Royals.

Nicolas Petan, Alex Schoenborn, Dominic Turgeon, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Keoni Texeira supplied the rest of the Winterhawks (15-12-3) offence. The win was the team's sixth in a row.

Travis Brown struck twice for Victoria (15-14-2), with Tyler Soy and Brandon Magee also picking up goals.
