Munz: Minus Ladd, Jets set to take on Stars

The Winnipeg Jets open a five game road trip in Dallas tonight with a 7:30ct face off against the Stars.

The (32-31-9) Jets have 73 points and trail Phoenix by six points for a Western Conference Wild Card playoff spot.  Winnipeg is four points behind Dallas and three back of Vancouver who are also trailing the Coyotes.

Al Montoya will start in goal.

The Jets will be without Captain Andrew Ladd who returned to Winnipeg this morning to be with his wife as celebrate the birth of a baby girl.  Tonight will end a streak of 233 consecutive games played by Ladd.

Following this morning's pregame skate at American Airlines Center, Head Coach Paul Maurice said it will be a game time decision on which three players he will use on the fourth line.

The (33-26-11) Stars have 77 points and trail Phoenix by two points for a Wild Card playoff spot.  Dallas has one game in hand on the Coyotes.

The Stars are 4-0-1 in their last five home games.

Captain Jamie Benn has scored three goals in his last two games.

Tyler Seguin is on an eight game point streak which includes six goals and nine assists.

Former Thrasher Kari Lehtonen will start in goal.  The only current Jets he played with in Atlanta are Jim Slater, Toby Enstrom, Bryan Little, Chris Thorburn and Zach Bogosian.

Tonight is the fifth and final game between these Central Division teams.  Winnipeg is 2-2 against Dallas, despite being outscored 14-13 by the Stars.  Seguin has five goals and four assists for Dallas while Blake Wheeler leads the Jets with three goals and four assists.
