With the Feb. 27 NHL Trade Deadline looming, teams are making decisions on whether to buy or sell and deciding which players can make the biggest difference or hold the greatest value.

Check out today's trade rumours and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca each day until Deadline Day for all the updates.

Weighing His Options

The Minnesota Wild currently sit four points back of a playoff spot in the West and Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports that Wild GM Chuck Fletcher is feeling pressure to make a deal and get the team into the post-season.

The catch is that Fletcher doesn't want to part with his young talent for a quick-fix solution. He has built up a solid prospect pool and doesn't want to make a desperation move that undoes all that work.

Rent-A-Goalie

David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail writes that Corey Crawford may still be Chicago's goaltender of the future but neither he nor Ray Emery are the answer this season.

Shoalts says that Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman needs an experienced netminder immediately. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the ideal choice in Evgeni Nabokov, is not available. Shoalts writes that the only real option available is 39-year-old Nikolai Khabibulin of the Oilers.

Cause and Effect

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that the Flyers don't match up well against either the New York Rangers or Boston Bruins. He says this could force GM Paul Holmgren's hand when it comes to making a deal before the deadline.

With Nashville unlikely to trade either of its two star defencemen, Carchidi says the Flyers should look at acquiring Toronto's Luke Schenn, Carolina's Bryan Allen (who would have to waive a no-trade clause), or Montreal's Hal Gill.

Time To Sell?

The Buffalo Sabres have been playing solid hockey of late - going 5-1-1 in their last seven - but still find themselves stuck in 14th place in the East. With so many teams to pass and so many three point games out there, is it time for the Sabres to become sellers leading up to the trade deadline?

Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News writes that Sabres GM Darcy Regier has several players he will have to decide whether or not to shop. Among them are Paul Gaustad, Brad Boyes, Jochen HechtDerek Roy, Jordan Leopold and Robyn Regehr.

Nothing Major

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE writes that the Bruins do not have many holes in their roster and are unlikely to make any major moves this season.

That said, he writes that the Bruins would ideally like to have any new additions in place before they embark on an 11-day road trip next week. He also makes a list of potential targets for the Bruins.

Dollars and Sense

Rich Chere of NJ.com examines what it will take for the Devils to re-sign captain Zach Parise. The Devils have already said they are not going to trade him before the deadline and want to bring him back. The question is, can they afford to do so?
