With the Feb. 27 NHL Trade Deadline looming, teams are making decisions on whether to buy or sell and deciding which players can make the biggest difference or hold the greatest value.

Check out today's trade rumours and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca each day until Deadline Day for all the updates.

Guessing Game

Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch says the Blue Jackets seem intent on making "radical changes". And beyond potentially moving Jeff Carter, the list of available players could include the likes of R.J. Umberger, Derick Brassard, Antoine Vermette, and if the price is right, captain Rick Nash.

Carter to Calgary?

George Johnson of the Calgary Herald says that, despite rumours of Jeff Carter possibly being dealt to Calgary, he doesn't believe that Carter would be a good fit with the Flames.

Laying Low?

Boston.com suggests that with the Bruins having traded away their second and fourth-round 2012 draft picks while owning a low first-rounder, they might be better off standing pat come the deadline. The story says that, with limited blue-chip prospects at AHL Providence, the team doesn't have the currency right now to deal for big-league talent.

Watching and Waiting

John Feinstein of the Washington Post says the Capitals, who are in the thick of the race for the eighth playoff spot in the East, will have to watch their injury list to determine what moves to potentially make. The team is still waiting for the return of stars Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom.

Staying with the Capitals, Post writer Katie Carrera noted a Tweet from Washington's Ted Leonsis. The Caps' owner said in part that "(we) hope we can add some jump via the trade markets during the next few weeks."

Blueline Blues

Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com reports Flyers GM Paul Holmgren could be in the market for a defenceman. Holmgren told Panaccio the Flyers' team defence has not been good of late. The Flyers currently have a pair of rookies on the blue line and are still feeling the long-term absence of veteran Chris Pronger.
