With the Feb. 27 NHL Trade Deadline looming, teams are making decisions on whether to buy or sell and deciding which players can make the biggest difference or hold the greatest value.

Check out today's trade rumours and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca each day until Deadline Day for all the updates.

The Plot Thickens

As reported by TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger on Thursday's edition of Insider Trading, the Toronto Maple Leafs are still working to get Mikhail Grabovski signed to a contract but they also have an offer on the table for his services.

The Maple Leafs have a deal that would give them a second-round pick and a prospect from one NHL team. Dreger adds that GM Brian Burke believes 'he can sweeten' the offer and get a first-rounder out of it, but any decision on Grabovski will be made on Feb. 27.

Cooling Down on Schenn?

As suggested by Jame Mirtle of The Globe and Mail, the chance of the Toronto Maple Leafs doing a deal with the Flyers including Luke Schenn may be on the shelf with Philadelphia acquiring Nicklas Grossman on Thursday.

No Untouchables

Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff told Tim Campebell of the Winnipeg Free Press Thursday that no player on his roster is being held on a "pedestal," and there are no untouchable players.

Cheveldayoff added that he won't be involved in any 'rental-player' deals, where he might acquire a player whose contract runs out at the end of this season.

He also said he has not negotiated with any of his soon-to-be UFAs Jim Slater, Tanner Glass, Kyle Wellwood, Tim Stapleton, Johnny Oduya, Randy Jones, Mark Flood and Chris Mason.

Avs Moves?

In his online mailbag for the Denver Post, NHL writer Adrian Dater says he believes that the Colorado Avalanche will move a blueliner by the deadline - perhaps soon-to-be UFA Shane O'Brien.

Dater adds, however, that he thinks the Avs should find a way to keep him in the fold and other names like Ryan Wilson, Ryan O'Byrne and Kyle Quincey could be in play.

Waiting On Ruutu

According to Chip Alexander of the News-Observer, Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said Thursday that a decision on a proposed contract extension for forward Tuomo Ruutu should be reached early next week.
