PORTLAND, Maine -- Chad Johnson stopped 31 shots as the Portland Pirates shut out the St. John's IceCaps 3-0 in American Hockey League action Friday.
Chris Brown, Brett Hextall and Brendan Shinnimin each scored for the Pirates (4-3-1).
Brown opened the scoring on the power play at 8:39 in the first period. Hextall made it 2-0 in the second, and Shinnimin added the final goal in the third.
St. John's (4-5-0) has now gone 131 minutes 33 seconds without scoring a goal. The team's last goal came from Eric O'Dell on Oct. 27 in the third period of a 3-2 win over the Norfolk Admirals.
Eddie Pasquale finished with 22 saves for the IceCaps.
