WINNIPEG - Manitoba's premier says the sale of special Winnipeg Jets licence plates has raised more than $800,000 so far for children's charities.

Greg Selinger says 27,000 of the specialty plates have been sold in the last year by more than 300 Autopac agents.

The plates cost $70 and $30 of that goes to the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation.

The money goes to programs that provide opportunities for disadvantaged kids.

Dwayne Green, True North's executive director, says the foundation is thrilled at the continued supported Jets fans have shown for the team and the community.

Manitoba got an NHL team back in time for the 2011-12 hockey season when the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg.
