Canadian snowboarders capture four medals at WC competitions

STONEHAM, Que. -- Canadian snowboarders captured four medals Sunday at the final World Cup freestyle event of the season.

Brooke Voigt of Fort McMurray, Alta., and Calgary's Breanna Stangeland captured the silver and bronze medal, respectively, in the women's event. And in the men's competition Jonathan Versteeg of Whistler, B.C., was second, finishing ahead of Maxence Parrot of Bromont, Que.

Dutch competitors Charlotte Van Gils and Dimi De Jong won the women's and men's races, respectively.

Van Gils won the women's event with a score of 92 points out of a possible 100. Voigt was next with 82.50 points while Stangeland finished with 78.25.

"I don't know, I'm kind of overwhelmed right now," Voigt said.

De Jong recorded the day's high school in his second run, earning 89 points. Versteeg was second with 83.75 while Parrot took third with 81.75.

"It's awesome, it feels spectacular, that was my first World Cup ever," Versteeg said. "In the final, I just laid down what I wanted to and all worked out pretty fine for me."

Finland's Janne Korpi was ninth
