Columbus Blue Jackets prospect and current Everett Silvertips captain Ryan Murray may require shoulder surgery after an MRI showed a small tear in his labrum.

According to his agent, Murray will fly to Columbus and meet with the staff of the Blue Jackets on Monday to determine the best course of action.

If the surgery is performed as expected, Murray could be sidelined for four-to-six months, virtually ending his season, including the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Final selection camp for Team Canada starts December 10, with the first game taking place on December 26.

The Blue Jackets selected Murray with the second overall selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
