The St. Louis Blues have dropped four straight games and now sit just one point ahead of the Anaheim Ducks for a wild-card playoff spot.

The Blues are 2-4-1 over their past seven games dating back to Feb. 6 and head coach Mike Yeo said his team must start to turn things around.

“Desperation time was a while ago,” Yeo told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch after Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. “This is where pride has to come in. We’ve got to stop the bleeding and we gotta start building confidence in the game that we’re playing and have the feeling showing up to the rink that everybody’s gonna be ready to go.

“We need points. We need wins. And we need to start doing it now.”

Defenceman Colton Parayko agreed with his coach's sentiment, saying he believes desperation time has arrived.

“It is,” Parayko said. “I know there are still 21 games left, but those 21 games go by really quick. It’s going to be fast and every single point is pretty much going to matter now.”

With 72 points, the Blues are tied with the Dallas Stars for third in the Central Division, though Dallas has two games in hand. St. Louis has a one-point lead on the Minnesota Wild (also two games in hand) and the Anaheim Ducks. The Calgary Flames (with 69 points and a game in hand) and the Colorado Avalanche (68 points with two games in hand) also remain in striking distance.

The Blues face the Winnipeg Jets on Friday and visit the Nashville Predators on Sunday, the two teams who currently sit first and second in the Central Division.
